The 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Environmental Mutagen and Genome Society (JEMS)

Greetings

We are pleased to announce that the 55th Annual Meeting of JEMS will be held over two days, on November 14 (Saturday) and 15 (Sunday), 2026, at Hoshi University in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

The theme of the 55th Annual Meeting is “Exploring Environmental Factors and Health Risks through Genome Science.” Recent advances in next-generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatics have made it possible to capture genome mutations and epigenomic alterations induced by environmental factors with unprecedented resolution and from multiple perspectives. At the same time, a major challenge we face is how to effectively translate these vast and complex datasets into health risk assessment and safety evaluation, and ultimately return the knowledge to society.

In addition, neighboring Asian countries share many similarities in living environments and lifestyles, and consequently face common challenges related to health risks. Considering this background, this year’s meeting will feature two joint symposia involving Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, with the aim of fostering in-depth discussions from an international perspective.

Through this meeting, we aim to promote interdisciplinary discussions from basic research to applied research and regulatory science. By leveraging the Society’s long-standing strengths, we anticipate that active exchanges of ideas will lead to the identification of new research directions and harmonization toward future social implementation.

We sincerely look forward to seeing you in our attractive city, Tokyo.
